Extended Bio

Fi Thomson is an artist who works and lives in Huntly. They have worked predominantly as a landscape artist for 36 years, 20 of those in Northeast Scotland. Walking, swimming and running are crucial elements of their working practice, as they traverse the same places at different times, influenced by the weather, moods, and seasons. They navigate through spaces and document the fluid changes stemming from their memories and emotions over time. Landscapes are never static; the mark-making in their work reflects the flux and transformation occurring in both their inner and outer environments and their fascination with the movement of elements through trees, grass, clouds, and water. They describe an ever-changing environment and how it feels to watch those changes.

In 2025, a drawing was shortlisted for the Scottish Landscape Awards and exhibited in Kirkcudbright Galleries.

In 2024, they were commissioned to produce an art walk as part of The National Gallery's Road Trip for Deveron Projects.
